Vacation Update

Coming Soon: Photos and stories from our travel adventures to the farm in Minnesota and a long weekend in New York City! My excessive photo-snapping has begun, but I am not able to upload photos until we return home, so check back in a couple weeks for visuals....

We had a fairly smooth travel day yesterday, flying from Boise to Denver, then from Denver to Minneapolis/St. Paul, with only a slight delay in Denver. The boys did a wonderful job, traveling with much patience and optimism. We arrived at the farm yesterday evening in time to watch the end of the exciting Twins' game on TV, enjoy some fresh apple-walnut pie with ice cream, help Papa feed the calves, and enjoy a moonlit ride in the Polaris Ranger around the farm (Papa, Gary, Gordy, Grayson, and me). We all slept like rocks after a busy travel day, and today we're enjoying a sunny, autumn day on the farm. The boys have already spent hours with the new Play-doh and art supplies Grammy bought them, done much digging in the sandbox, and we all went on a fun adventure, exploring the lakes, fields, and forests around the farm.

The catalyst for this entire trip is that Gary won a National Edward R. Murrow award in Videography. The award ceremony is in New York City on Oct. 12th, so Gary and I will be flying there for a long weekend, this Friday through Tuesday. It will be our first trip without the boys, and we are ever-so-grateful that they will be in great hands with much TLC, staying with Grammy & Papa. While in New York, Gary and I will enjoy some of the perks of his job -- media passes to "Saturday Night Live" and a tour of NBC studios. We also bought tickets to "Wicked" at the Gershwin Theater and look forward to seeing the sights of the Big Apple together.

When we fly back to Minnesota, we will have another full week to relax and enjoy life on the farm with the boys, my parents, and brother Dave. My sister Melissa will join us from California on October 14th, and soon after, Jen and her fiance Tony fly in from Portland, Oregon for a weekend. We will be celebrating their upcoming marriage with a bridal shower on Saturday, October 17th.

I can assure you, there will be an abundance of pictures to post, once we return to Idaho.... Fun times we're having!
