Walnut Grove is less than an hour drive from the farm. We enjoyed an afternoon there, taking in some local history and reliving memories from reading the books by Laura Ingalls Wilder and watching the "Little House on the Prairie" series from our younger days. Gordon has just started reading chapter books, and has the set of Laura's books, ready to read them. As a family, we have all the seasons from the show on DVD, given to us from Grammy & Papa as Christmas gifts.

Grammy & Papa bought our little "Half Pint" a bonnet. She started out with this pink one, but we exchanged it for a darker color after our museum tour. |

This is the actual mantle used on set in the "Little House..." series inside the Ingalls' home. |

Gary and I both grew up watching this show. I'm so glad he appreciates the history of the midwest, just as I always longed to explore the mountains of the west where he grew up. |

I love the artwork by this artist, Harvey Dunn.

We had a fantastic day in Walnut Grove! On our way home, we stopped in Echo and discovered that the Volunteer Firefighters Dinner was going on, so we enjoyed grilled pork loin, baked potatoes, chocolate covered peanut butter rice krispy treats, etc. I was happy to run into some old friends from high school as well, which was a nice surprise. Another great day in Minnesota....
