 We started Gary's celebration by going out for brunch, my Dad's treat.  (Thank you so much, Dad!)  We chose family-friendly and very nearby Sunrise Cafe.

 After brunch, Mom & Dad watched the kiddos for a few hours so Gary and I could go do some shopping for Gordon's birthday.  Later, we enjoyed a relaxing evening at Dave & Myra's house, where they hosted a lovely birthday dinner for Gary in their beautiful backyard garden.  Joey & Nicole joined us too.

The boys caught this swallowtail butterfly, but released it again shortly.

Gordon kept busy with body crayons, decorating all of us with tattoos.

It was a beautiful evening on the patio, looking out at Dave & Myra's spectacular garden.

For his 40th, I arranged for a little 2-night getaway at Smiley Creek near Stanley, Idaho for Gary and me. Grammy & Papa will be staying with the kids while we take a mini-vacation.  Just the two of us.  Photos of that adventure to follow soon....
