We loaded up the Tahoe and tent trailer the night before leaving and set out shortly after 6:00 a.m. Egg McMuffins - Drive Thru Breakfast stop near Mountain Home...and off to the road side hot springs just outside of Craters of the Moon State Park. We all enjoyed a nice soak in this nice, warm pool before loading back up for another stretch to Idaho Falls for lunch.
Mountains outside of Bozeman, Montana. What a pretty town! We had sub sandwiches for dinner in Bozeman, then got back on the road for the last stretch of driving to our campground at Big Timber, MT.
This photo of our Tahoe and camper is out of order, taken at the hot springs near Carey, Idaho.
The kids were amazingly patient and well-behaved. The boys especially were so optimistic and grateful for this adventure. Greta too was surprisingly tolerant of so much time in her car seat. Only toward the end of each driving day did she start to get fussy. Special travel bags filled with snacks, games, and art supplies were given to each of us by Grandma Myra before we left. Her foresight and thoughtfulness is so appreciated!
We stopped for the night at a KOA campground where we'd reserved a site by Big Timber, Montana off the freeway. Gary set up the tent trailer while I sought out the restrooms and some fun activities for the kiddos to get their wiggles out.
We found a park with swings, a see-saw, and slide....
...and there was also a giant jump pillow. Perfect place to get our wiggles out!
What fun!
Aside from the nearby passing trains that blared their horns through all hours of the night, it was a peaceful rest in our tent trailer. Even Greta slept well, for which I was incredibly grateful. We were glad to have had a pleasant first full day of travel behind us. One day down, two to go....
