Weekend Hot Springs Quest - Part 1

Having worked the entire previous weekend, Gary was given Thursday and Friday off this past weekend. Our initial plans were to take a family camping trip near the Hagerman Fossil Beds, but the rainy forecast put a damper on that idea. So we opted for another weekend at the cabins, with a special day trip on Friday. Our goal -- to find some new hot springs we haven't tried yet.... Here are the boys, ready to go with their juice boxes in hand.

We enjoyed a gorgeous sunny day and beautiful scenery around every corner....

From rolling hills beneath blue skies and puffy clouds....

...to meadows, speckled with grazing horses and a pine-covered, mountain back-drop.

This is a road we travel often on our Idaho adventures...

...but each and every time, I marvel at the breathtaking beauty of this stretch of highway.

Our first stop was Pine Flats campground, where we'd hoped to hike down toward the river to hot springs. But the Payette River is running very high right now, enough to make hiking with little ones a bit too dangerous. So we made this our lunch stop.

Ham & turkey sandwiches with pickles, tomato & lettuce, fruit salad, and Doritos with bean dip -- all made for a delightful picnic.

The view wasn't bad at all either. ☺ Gorgeous.

Our picnic lunch made for a nice stop on our quest for new hot springs to soak in. The adventure didn't stop there.... Our day trip continues, in my next post. ☺
