Chocolate Chip Mountain

Just had to throw this one more post on today.... This photo was taken yesterday, probably 10 minutes after the other photo of Grayson playing outside (scroll down to the post titled, "Grayson This Morning" for the before picture). Like Gordon, he has really taken a liking to the big pile of dirt in the back corner of our yard. :) (Gary has named it "Chocolate Chip Mountain," in honor of the giant mound of dirt we Schueler kids played on when we were growing up, on the farm). I can see that the boys will be taking a lot more baths, now that it's getting warmer outside....!

Oooo...Wow!

Grayson's vocabulary is blossoming, as he nears the one-year mark. :) Today he tried his first taste of whole milk! He seems to really enjoy the new taste.

Computer Time

Gordy really enjoys the "puter," especially sites for kids like PBS, Sesame Street, and Starfall.... Here's a little clip of him, enjoying the Sesame Street site, getting Elmo to laugh by pressing the space bar.

Gordon's New Tree

Gary came home with some free Arbor Day saplings on Friday. Gordon helped him plant them on Saturday. Gary invited Gordy to choose a spot for one special tree, and then name the tree. Here are a couple photos of Gordy with his new tree, "Roly Ball."

New Biking Gear

We purchased these new bike helmets for the boys on Saturday at Target. Aren't they cute?! The photo shows the boys as we're getting ready to take off on our first family bike ride this spring. Gary got our bikes and the trailer all tuned up yesterday, and we rode to Hyde Park for a delicious lunch at Casa Mexico.

New (Used) Play Gym!

This song choice has nothing to do with our project; it's just one that Grayson starts dancing to, everytime we hear it. :) Enjoy!

Seeing Daddy Off to Work

Each morning, the boys have their little ritual as Daddy heads off to "Daddy's News." Gordy shows Daddy the sign for "I love you," though not entirely correct. (He holds up four fingers and says, "Love you!"), then he asks for "hug--kiss!" Daddy gives each of us hugs and kisses, tells us he loves us, and reminds us to have a great day. Gordon then perches in the windowsill, Grayson in his high chair, both waving. Gordy blows kisses, and shouts, "B'bye, Daddy--Love you!!" It's quite the send-off! Here's Grayson's farewell from this morning, a bit groggy and delayed. (I think Gary had been gone for awhile at this point).

Gordon Says Grace

Before meals, we ask our little Gordon to lead us in prayer.

Garbage Day

TGIF--It's GARBAGE DAY!!
P.S. Yes, that's color crayon all over our window. :) Gordon is an aspiring artist.

New Sidewalk Chalk

Gordon, Grayson, and I enjoyed a "field trip" to Target yesterday--it had been far too long. We had such a fun time! Our main objective: sidewalk chalk. We also picked up some new construction paper and Gordy's first pack of glue sticks. We wrapped up our successful Target trip with a bag of popcorn and some "bubble juice" (Sierra Mist) in the Target deli. Grayson looked on with his Cheeri-O's.

Yep, we have some big 'projects' ahead in the next few weeks, now that we have new paper and glue sticks. After naps yesterday, we hit the back patio to break in the new chalk. Daddy had just gotten home, so he joined in on the fun too.

Grayson is 11 Months Old Today!

Can it be? Our baby is just one month away from his first birthday! It must be how busy we are with two kiddos -- Grayson's 1st year seems to be flying by so much faster than Gordy's did. Here are some video clips featuring one of Grayson's latest tricks ~ waving. In the first two clips, he's very tired & ready for a nap, so his winning smile goes unseen. The third one shows his happy personality, but he doesn't wave as emphatically, so I chose to share all three.

Grayson has six, almost seven, teeth now. He can crawl at top speed, especially when he's heading toward something "off limits" and knows that we're on his trail. His first steps were taken on March 21st toward Daddy, and then a few more steps toward Mommy, moments after. He still sticks with crawling for the most part, but every now and then challenges himself to walk. Two to three steps are his maximum so far, but it won't be long and he'll be toddling all over the place.

Spring sunshine has opened the doors for us to spend a lot more time outdoors, which Grayson loves! He is perfectly content to observe all the flowers, birds, and trees from the comfort of his stroller or wagon, along with big brother Gordon, on long walks. They are both elated when we play at one of the nearby parks, and Grayson is especially fond of the swings.

Sleeping through the night does happen, though it's not entirely guaranteed just yet. Oddly enough, if Grayson has two naps during the day (late morning and late afternoon), he seems to sleep better at night than if he foregoes the afternoon nap. He also sleeps better if we've done something new and interesting during the day, stimulating his growing mind.

Meals are fun....as Grayson has taken a liking to blowing raspberries right after a spoonful of baby food. Messy! He seems bored with spoon-feeding, and excited about trying new finger foods--a very independent guy. So we're getting more and more into solids around here, which makes for much easier meal preps. :)

As you can see, Grayson is a handsome little guy, just like his brother. We are so proud of our little boys!
