Art in the Park

Boise's annual Art in the Park was held in Julia Davis Park, September 11th-13th. The boys and I decided to meander through it, after Gordy's preschool that Friday. So much to see -- a lot of inspirational, regional talent through painting, sculpture, beadwork, pottery, knitting, sewing, etc.... I snapped a few photos of pieces I wish we could hang on the walls of our new home.
As lovely as they are, we can't really afford this print,

...nor this cool painting,

...nor this amazing landscape I'd love to display on one of our walls.

What we could afford -- ice cream cones!

Yum!

We enjoyed perusing all the beautiful artwork, all the while smelling the tantalizing scents of the various food stands, also scattered throughout the park.

Ice cream won our votes ~ delicious!

What a great way to spend an afternoon with our lovable little boys!

Faces I adore!

Much to our delight, we discovered that Gary was doing live shots at Art in the Park for the 5:00 and 6:00 News. Between shows, he joined us for a little break.

Family time

We enjoyed live music, art, snacks, and a beautiful day.

The boys danced and enjoyed the music....

Rebecca Scott was performing. (Pause Music Box to hear video clip).

What a fun day!

Ann Morrison Park

We love Boise's parks! One that we visit often is Ann Morrison Park.

Aside from the abundance of playground equipment, enormous running space, and wildlife (mostly geese, ducks, seagulls and squirrels), there's also a BIG fountain!

A wonderful place to cool down on hot, summer days!

A little break from running around, to check out the newest landscaping addition.

Back to some more water fun....

Drying off on the swings

Gordon Loves Books!

We are back in the swing of things -- Preschool has started and we're making weekly trips to the library, loading up on books. Gordy is super excited about learning to write his name and a few new words. Here are some clips of him "reading" a book called Bravery Soup, after only hearing this story once, as read by Gary the night before. I love it! (To better hear him, you may pause the music).

Jen & Tony

Last weekend, Jen and Tony flew over from Portland for the Labor Day weekend. What a wonderful time, with a beautiful couple! Oddly, I only got my camera out briefly during their stay, capturing a few snapshots while they made scrumptious personal pizzas with Gordy and Grayson.

A talented chef, Tony also treated us all to a delicious grilled steak dinner on Sunday evening.

The boys loved all the added love and attention from Uncle Tony and Auntie Nenny!

Voila!

I post this on a special occasion ~ Happy Birthday, Tony!

Thank you both for spending the weekend with us; we look forward to your next visit!

Back to School...for Gordon!

Today has finally arrived -- Gordy's 1st day of preschool! He is so excited! He has moved up from Miss Tara's 3/4 year old class to Miss Bonni's 4/5 year old class.

Last week, we spent about twenty minutes in the classroom with his teacher during the individual "meet and greet." Miss Bonni is well-loved and greatly appreciated by students and parents at Boise Cooperative Preschool. She is animated, energetic, proactive, and clearly loves children. She is also well-known for doing a wonderful job, preparing preschoolers for Kindergarten.

We are very excited for the adventures in preschool this year!

Gordon will have school every M-W-F for 2-1/2 hours.

Getting ready to leave for school after lunch today --

Today was special -- the first day of school was held in a park and families were encouraged to stay and get acquainted with new members.

Ready to go with his field trip vest and a contagious smile! Grayson looks on, supporting "Bubba" on his first day back to school.

Awaiting name tags....

Free play -- Gordy enjoyed meeting new students and reconnecting with old friends from last year.

Story time ~ Miss Bonni read an appropriate story for kids who might get homesick while at school -- The Kissing Hand.

Such good listeners....

Story time was followed by some games, a nature hike, an art project (leaf rubbings), bathroom break, snack, and additional play time. Miss Bonni dismissed class after giving a book to each student. Such a special day...and the beginning of an exciting year!
